Conviction

My grandmother once told me, "Some people are like the wind. They follow whichever party holds power. But we are not that kind of people. We choose our convictions and stand by them."

She joined the Chinese Communist revolution in 1948.

Diana

I am changing my name back to Diana. It was what my family named me upon coming to the U.S. In the third grade, I was a shy, self-conscious kid who didn't know how to express herself. The only way I could show my creativity was through my work, my writing, my artwork, my homework. And my name, I said that "Diana" with 2n's would be more original than Diana alone. I didn't know how to express myself then so I even used my name to do so. Now I want to give myself my old, new name.

Altazor, Vicente Huidobro

Fall
Fall forever
Fall to the depths of the infinite
Fall to the depths of time
Fall to the depths of your Self
Fall as low as you can
Fall without dizziness
Into all spaces & ages

"The poet is a God. Don’t sing about rain, poet. Make it rain!”

"Man puts himself in contact with the Universe, discovers its sense of unity, turns himself into a small God, and makes his cosmos."

Three ways we might get to 2050

Be outrageously ambitious. Progress relies on unreasonable people setting unreasonable goals. Be enthusiastic, exuberant, and enraged at the status quo.

Generate world-changing communications. Whether you make it, sing it, or sell it, your brilliant idea needs to communicate with compelling engagement. Start with Love.

Execute relentlessly. Ambition crumbles when the actions don’t deliver. The last detail totally counts. 99% is not enough. Emotion leads to action. Make things happen.

Sage advice from Kevin Roberts, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi.

Here’s to 2050.
